How it works
Using a solar panel, you are able charge a rechargeable battery/power bank which would then charge your phone. The battery is used so you can charge your phone even when there is no sunlight or no access to electricity.
To determine how long you can use the battery, look at the capacity(mAh) of it while the wattage will determine how fast the battery charges also look at the type of ports are available on it, most phones use USB-C.
Similarly, you can directly charge your phone from the solar panel using a 12V accessory outlet, like the one in your car. Many solar panels already come with this outlet making it easy to just plug in your phone and charge it directly given that there is sunlight. However, charging is at a fixed rate of 0.5A@5V as well as certain phones will not be able to charge from this method as they require a certain amount of mAh.
